WATAIN Update From The Road

Band Announces NYC Meet And Greet;
Lawless Darkness Earns The #2 Spot On Decibel Magazine's Top 40 Albums of 2010!

Swedish black metal titans WATAIN have been setting North America ablaze with a sound and stage show that is a true assault to the senses. Touring in support of their Lawless Darkness full-length released via Season Of Mist earlier this year, the wild ride commenced in Pittsburgh on November 6 and has been sweeping its way across the country with relentless fury. Support bands, Goatwhore and Black Anvil, have helped make the tour package one of the most pummeling (and talked about) of the year.

Said WATAIN in a collective statement: "The Lawless Darkness Tour marches on relentlessly across the States. Greetings to the legions of hungry fiends that have come out so far, and to all of you who have brought us gifts and artifacts for the stage, you will not be forgotten! It has been a wild ride, yet it is far from over... Denial of the flesh; Denial of the cunt; we are the cold seed of Satanas!"

Check out footage from the band's Seattle performance HERE OR BELOW.

WATAIN's final U.S. performance of the tour will happen this Thursday at Santos Party House in New York City. Following the show is a scheduled meet and greet at Duff's in Brooklyn. Check out the flyer HERE:

Duff's Brooklyn
168 Marcy Avenue (between S. 5th & Broadway)
Williamsburg, New York

Lawless Darkness was released via Season Of Mist on June 7. Recorded at Necromorbus Studio (Deathspell Omega, Funeral Mist, Ondskapt, etc.) in Alvik, Sweden with cover art by Zbigniew M. Bielak, the record continues to reap critical accolades from press nationwide and abroad. The band scored cover spots in some of metal’s most esteemed publications including Decibel, Terrorizer, and Subterranea (Metal Hammer’s extreme metal supplement) and the "Reaping Death," single was certified gold in Sweden for sales in excess of 10,000 copies. In addition, Lawless Darkness recently earned the #2 position in Decibel Magazine's Top 40 Albums Of 2010 [January 2011 issue]. View the feature HERE.

12/04/2010 Opera House - Toronto, ON

"...From the opening strains of 'Malfeitor,' WATAIN held the Rickshaw rapt with Satanic attention. Their reputation preceding them, the band completely revel in malevolence and black theatrics, from coating themselves in pig’s blood to utilizing flame as the major light source onstage. Frontman Erik Danielsson’s grim ringmastery commands attention and respect, while the band scorches their way through the soundtrack to damnation." -- Hellbound

Planet Metal to Release Quicksand Dream Album on December 7th

A true gem from the heavy metal underground! QUICKSAND DREAM was a treasured obscurity even during its original active period in Sweden during the early 1990s. In 1996, the core duo of Göran Jacobson and Patrick Backlund reconvened to record the ambitious and imaginative Aelin concept album. Upon its completion in 1999, the album was only circulated among friends and has remained largely unheard and unknown until now. With sophisticated and unique narrative-style songwriting and an elegant 16-page booklet to illustrate the album's epic tale, Aelin: A Story About Destiny is a mandatory release for any fan of Epic Heavy Metal. Fans of Manilla Road, Fates Warning, Cirith Ungol, While Heaven Wept, Candlemass, and epic-era Bathory take notice!

1. Prologue
2. A Child Was Born
3. House of Wisdom

THE GARDNERZ Sign To Abyss Records

THE GARDNERZ Sign To Abyss Records

Abyss Records is pleased to announce that Swedish doom/death metal act THE GARDNERZ has joined the label's ever-growing roster. Plans are in place to release the band's debut, The System Of Nature, in early 2011. For more on THE GARDNERZ visit the following locations:

The Art Of Suffering
Lady In The Grave
Your Final Solution
Born To Consume
Incident
Shift In Thought
Flaw In The Axiom
More Or Less
Confusion
Maybe It's Time
Bloody Vengeance (Vulcano Cover)
Servants Of The Warsmen (Winter Cover)

A doomy death metal band from the south of Sweden, THE GARDNERZ was formed in the middle of 2008 by Wilhelm. In late 2008 Francisco joined the band and our debut album started to take shape. A long time friend of Francisco, Juan Pablo, was recruited to do the drums and after a long time of searching for a vocalist Niclas stepped in to the picture. After about two years of slowly putting the pieces together we can finally present the finished product
- The System of Nature.

Blending slow and heavy riffs with melodies distorted and clean, we try to create our own slice of metal. Taking influences from all over the musical spectra, but keeping a solid metal foundation.
Mixing technicality with simplicity to get such a varied album as possible.

The lyrics deal with philosophical ideas and random rants about the strange ways of man, covering topics such as: the fallacies of religion, the rat-race of our over-consuming life style, the hypocrisy found in the writing of history, how a seemingly insignificant event shapes a man's entire life . With song titles like: Flaw in the Axiom, Shift in Thought, Your Final Solution, Born to Consume, The Art of Suffering .

Featuring guest solos by Thomas Ahlgren (Deranged, Pandemonium) on Born to Consume and Incident. And backing vocals by Joel Sundin on Lady in the Grave.

Line up for The System of Nature:

Vocals - Niclas Ankarbranth (Vandöd, d.josef band)
Guitar - Wilhelm Lindh (Ex-Tristitia)
Bass - Francisco Martín (Inner Sanctvm, Sacramento)
Drums -Juan Pablo Donoso (Sadism, Thornafire)

ARGUS Signs To Cruz Del Sur Music

CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC have reached an agreement with Pennsylvania's ARGUS for the release of their new album entitled Boldly Strides The Doomed.

ARGUS was formed in 2007 and features Bruce Balich of Penance fame on vocals. They released their self-titled debut album on Shadow Kingdom records in 2009, which was greeted warmly by the metal press immediately, Decibel Magazine describing them as "...a chest-thumping display of epic heavy metal as performed by a bunch of staunch doom metal fans. Indeed, ARGUS are all about big riffs, galloping anthems, dark melodies and tube amps."

The recordings of Boldly Stride The Doomed will take place at Soundscape Studios in Pittsburgh. The initial tracking sessions are set to begin this week and will continue throughout December and January. The master of heavy metal wizardry Dave Watson (Icarus Witch, Mantic Ritual, Crown The Lost) will be at the engineering and production helm once again. The album is set to contain approximately eight or nine songs, including track titles such as "A Curse On The World," "The Ladder," "42-7-29" and "Durendal." As Metalreview.com said, "...strangers to the band who prefer their metal melodic, galloping and built on a classic doom foundation, consider ARGUS your call to arms..."

ARGUS will perform on the 16th of April 2011 at the Hammer Of Doom V Festival, the annual doom and epic metal appointment in Würzburg, Germany, where they'll have the chance to perform with a cast of incredible bands such as Pentagram, While Heaven Wept, Atlantean Kodex, Solstice and many more.

Boldly Strides The Doomed will be released by CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC simultaneously on CD, vinyl and digital form on the 3rd of May 2011.

Commented vocalist Mike Williams: "EYEHATEGOD are excited to head out on this next USA trek and ready to do damage. EHG tours are one of a kind; each unique with its own abusive, miserable, broken features. Miss them now and maybe miss them forever..."

Added drummer Joey LaCaze: "The band is probably the tightest its ever been and different, more obscure songs have been added to the traditional set of all-time favorites. Get in the right frame of mind and vent all of your holiday frustrations."

Feedback from previous EYEHATEGOD rituals:

"The slow riffs of Bower, Brian Patton and relatively new bassist Gary Mader sounded as though they were literally being strummed beneath the surface of a murky Louisiana swamp, such was their slow and powerful delivery. At times an energized ’80s hardcore stomp sped things up and broke up what would have otherwise been an exercise in monotony. It was a thunderous, distinctly southern kind of blues ’n doom poured through a punk-rock filter." -- Hellbound

"Featuring founding members Mike Williams on vocals, Joey LaCaze on Drums, prominent long time guitarists Brian Patton and Jimmy ‘fucking’ Bower, and bassist Gary Mader, EHG simply rained down blow after blow upon us... For the record and in my humble opinion EYEHATEGOD are now the heaviest band on the face of the planet right behind the Melvins, and that was proven without a shadow of any doubt on this particular night...." -- LPM Voice

"Wallowing in hatred and heeding one’s most destructive tendencies usually doesn’t bode well for longevity. For some reason it’s worked out — professionally at least — for EYEHATEGOD over the last twenty two years." -- Time Out Chicago

"One of the heaviest nights of my life." -- Crustcake
