MUMAKIL: Swiss Death/Grind Outlaws Complete Second Album For Relapse

Switzerland’s maniacal grindcore death outfit MUMAKIL has completed the recording of their new LP, now bearing the confirmed title Flies Will Starve, set for release later in the year via Relapse Records.

Self-recorded at Terrier 5 Studio in Geneva, the MUMAKIL faction’s first album in four years will devastate grinders worldwide with twenty-four brand new tracks of wicked, precision grindcore with even more death metal persuasion than their previous full-length, Behold The Failure. Fans of Birdflesh, Misery Index, Antigama, Kill The Client and the like, get ready! Stated the band, upon entering the studio in September: “This will be our best album in terms of production, riff quality, variation and songwriting. It is going to be a great mix between everything we love in grindcore and death-metal with subjects like war, anger, pain, personal experiences and deceptions, and an overall theme about mankind's permanent will to destroy itself.”

Following an arsenal of releases since the band’s 2004 foundation, the anticipated Flies Will Starve will be MUMAKIL’s third full-length and second for Relapse, not including a split with Inhume on the label’s cult Slimewave 7” series. The album’s street date and other new info will be made available in the coming weeks, including tours of Europe, Canada and beyond in support of the album.

In the meantime, Europe is already doomed for a blastbeating this March, as MUMAKIL will rampage across the continent alongside Swedish grind allies Afgrund for over three weeks. You have been notified; be there or be crushed in the tour’s wake.

HOWL: Rhode Island Riff Manglers Complete New Album; Spring Takeover Announced

Providence, Rhode Island riff manglers, HOWL, recently completed the recording of their upcoming new full-length. Titled Bloodlines, the band’s sophomore offering was recorded at Planet Z studio in Hadley, Massachusetts, produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (Soulfly, Crowbar, Municipal Waste, 3 Inches Of Blood et al) and offers up 10 tracks of lead-footed audio menace.
Comments the band on the results: "Bloodlines is HOWL 2.0/HOWL on steroids/the bigger, heavier album. We took our signature sound and pushed it to the next level. This is a metal record influenced by doom, rather than vice versa. There's more aggression, more extremes, it's harder-hitting. Zeuss really helped us capture the sound we wanted, the way we truly sound. Bloodlines is huge, brutal, monstrous!"
Bloodlines is set for release via Relapse Records April 30, 2013. As a precursor to the record’s official unveiling, HOWL will take their metallic doom to the road on a month-long run of live takeovers set to begin next month in New London, Connecticut. HOWL will be joined by a host of sonic assassins throughout the tour.

Commended for their distinct brand of “furious, bone-crushing, head-splitting doom” by MetalSucks, and their huge riffs, excellent tone and an attitude not usually seen in bands with this much groove” by Crustcake, HOWLunleashed their Full Of Hell debut to unsuspecting ears in 2010. Gushed About.com in a near perfect rating of the record: “Full Of Hell isn’t just one of the best metal debuts of the year. It’s likely to be one of the best metal albums of the year.”

BATILLUS: Avant-Industrial Doom Conjurors To Unleash Concrete Sustain Via Seventh Rule Recordings Next Month Artwork + Track Listing Revealed

BATILLUS by TOMMY KEARNS
Brooklyn, New York avant-industrial doom conjurors BATILLUS (buh-TILL-us) today confirm March 19, 2013 as the official North American release date of their forthcoming new full-length. Titled Concrete Sustain, the follow-up to 2011’s critically-lauded Furnace long player, was recorded and mixed by Sanford Parker and BATILLUS at Sound Generation in Manhattan and Hypercube in Chicago and mastered by Collin Jordan at the Boiler Room.

With songs that range from relentless mid-tempo churns to subterranean crawls, BATILLUS cohere the extremes of heavy music into a surge of massive riffing, rolling over and descending on the listener with the force and intensity of a sudden storm. Concrete Sustain delivers six unforgettable tracks of chilling industrial doom.

2. Cast
3. Beset

Concrete Sustain will be released via Seventh Rule Recordings. Stay tuned for further info on BATILLUS, including a stretch of live rituals, in the coming weeks.

TODAY IS THE DAY celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year. Led by visionary frontman Steve Austin, TITD’s violent but psychedelic attack has received worldwide acclaim since their 1993 debut, Supernova. Nine studio albums have been released through Amphetamine Reptile, Relapse and others, the band's ever-morphing lineup featuring notable musicians including Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, who would later go on to form Mastodon. The current lineup sees Austin flanked by drummer Curran Reynolds (Wetnurse) and bassist Ryan Jones (Wetnurse, Mutilation Rites). The band’s most recent LP, Pain Is A Warning LP, was issued by Blackmarket Activities in 2011, the Kurt Ballou-produced beast receiving critical acclaim worldwide. Terrorizer Magazine awarded Pain Is a Warning a perfect 5/5 score, stating “Rather than resting on their considerable laurels, Steve Austin and company have created the most dynamic, varied, vicious and deeply touching album of their already long career... This is the album of the year.” Decibel Magazine hailed Pain Is a Warning as Today Is the Day’s “most ferocious offering since 1999’s In the Eyes of God and easily the most distinctly rock n’ roll slab in the band’s entire catalog.”

Stay tuned for continuous updates on TODAY IS THE DAY as the tour draws near.

THE SECRET Unleashes “Seven Billion Graves” Video

Italy’s most caustic metal/hardcore outfit THE SECRET has unleashed an official video for their nihilistic cry against humanity, "Seven Billion Graves." Directed by Shazzula Nebula, the video was released via Scion AV, and was posted first at Invisible Oranges today, who sums it up quite well, stating: “There’s no story, no band members, and indeed, no humans present. Cameras roam the remains of dead civilizations or skitter over broken terrain. All is rendered in greys and blacks. It’s a grim vision, and a fair aesthetic match for THE SECRET’s stark metalcore. No rounded edges or straight lines here.”

The fourth album from THE SECRET, the decimating Agnus Dei is the most lethal weapon in this unique Italian attack squad’s broadening arsenal, coalescing the most destructive elements of crust, black metal and hardcore with the force of tectonic plates, constructed of monolithic riffs, taking the listener on a hallucinated trip towards a hazy tomorrow. Recorded by Kurt Ballou (High on Fire, Converge, Black Breath) at Godcity Studios, Agnus Dei received bewildered praise from media across the planet and has appeared in dozens of journalist and zine year-end lists.

ABSU Announces Special North American Tour

ABSU today announces details on their upcoming tour, titled North American Connexus Conjuration. The 26-city tour will see the band perform two full sets with music spanning their 20-year recording career. It is the first full tour by the Texas-based mythological occult trio since the release of Abzu, the second of a planned trilogy of recordings.

Vocalist/drummer Proscriptor shares, “Since the release of our latest recording, Abzu, the response has been extremely vehement and now is the perfect moment to commemorate the album’s essence throughout North America. We purposely waited until the timing was ideal to embark on this journey, as we shall contaminate the communities with our craft of Mythological Occult Metal. We’re attempting to divide the concerts into two sections: the first act will showcase songs spanning from our entire discography, as the second act will focus on Phase Two from the album Tara: The Cythrául Klan’s Scrutiny. For the past couple of years, many of ABSU’s followers have requested specified songs from this chapter of Tara, so it is our aspiration to give the people what they want.”

Abzu, the band’s seventh studio album, was released October 2010. The album was mixed by J.T. Longoria (King Diamond/Solitude Aeternus) and features original works by Polish artist Zbigniew Bielak (Watain, Behemoth, Destroyer 666, Vader). Proscriptor commented, "With this record, we are appending dirtier elements of psychedelia and fusion. Lyrically, it descends deeper into Enki's lower world as well the Enochian Magic(k) System." He added, "This album is not a 'natural progression' from previous releases, but a feat of metaphysical conquest and murkiness."

ABSU came to prominence with the release of their 1993 debut, Barathrum: V.I.T.R.I.O.L. Each album saw continual expansion of the band’s now highly regarded artistic vision and international fanbase. It was with 2001’s Tara that the band truly arrived. The album reached top lists of countless magazines worldwide. Years, however, would pass before any new material would be recorded. In late 2007, the band finally announced their re-awakening. Now teamed with London-based Candlelight Records, the band would take nearly sixteen months writing/recording their sixth album. Absu, featuring contributions from members of King Diamond, Mayhem, Melechesh, Firstborn and Enthroned, was released early 2009.

Barb Wire Dolls: Like in 1981 Punk´s Not Dead!

Pic by: Cindy Linville
Probably the most famous words inside the punk scene and to the date remain an incontrovertible truth to a movement that saw its name associated to rebellion of teenagers, drugs, sex, anarchism and even Nazism and Fascism to a lifestyle that should be banned by the extravagance of a life without moral values, a movement that resisted the constant attack of society. These words are the title of the album of The Exploited released in 1981 with the intent to annul the critics who believed the genre was dead and to fight back new movements such as new wave, hardcore and post-punk and the album started a new musical cycle and launched a new and still current war cry (the name of the album) - “Punk´s Not Dead”. True!

The history of the misunderstood and unruly rebel has born way behind when the term to define its name wasn´t even there, it all started with rock and roll and social alienation combined with a new attitude and clothes to symbolize those changes. Rock and roll brought teen culture, teen rebellion and a desire to create your own entity using music and dressing style. It was a way to enjoy a young life free of parents and social chains and to claim liberty. During this time (between 60´s and 70´s) the speed mode was on and a massive boom of musical culture occurred, music was selling great and of course capitalism took the opportunity to make money with garage bands that became fashion like The Beatles. Gradually the rebel was earning its name and the term punk rock appears in the United States originally around 1974 with the band Ramones, leather jackets, jeans and simple/short distorted noisy music that broke The distance between musician and public inciting other teenagers to form their bands. In England punk rock was seen like cultural decadence and the movement evolved to its true essence, to the punk itself as a reaction to the “non-violence” way of “hippie” music. Sex pistols were the first of the genre to appear in 1975 with anarchistic symbols and demonstrating a profound nihilism and pessimism, assaulting directly policy and diverse elements of the mainstream culture with sarcasm and pure noisy offensive punk. Thereafter punk never stopped growing and became a movement, more than that it became a way of life.

If you ask me what do I like in the punk scene nowadays I am very likely to answer that short and simple “nothing much!”, I’m not taking credit of bands of today but that sound is just too  danceable, too flourished and make me want to puke when listening to it. You can give me Patti Smith, The Stooges, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Butthole Surfers, you can give me loud, raw, old school punk and everything will be okay but just don´t try to give me that melodic, emotional shit, modern punk or else stuff gets ugly! Don´t take me wrong punk is punk whatever the style, whatever the variation and If you like that kind of variation of punk that´s okay with me, everyone has a different taste. Punk isn´t only about music, it´s about being different, different but united, it’s about history, struggle, opinion, having a voice, having a loudspeaker against society, it´s about pointing your middle finger and saying “fuck you” to the system, it´s about saying something really important with which we identify and many times rely on, it´s about revolution and freedom! But despite that fact it is also a fact that since great bands like The Pistols, The Who, Ramones, Nirvana, The Cure and so on I can´t remember a punk band that really nailed it with such a impact… well at least until now!

Clear the way for the new hottest and explosive trio Barb Wire Dolls and make room in the hall of fame of Punk ´cause history is already being made and it´s about time to listen to real fucking punk music again… period! They are the first punk band emerging from Crete, Greece and to unleash rebellion in the USA (where they currently remain on tour until June 2013). With the charisma and strong personality of the hot singer Isis Queen, with the riffing energy of Pyn Doll, with the full-throttle drumming of Krash Doll along with the thirst to bring back to life the sleeping old school punk movement they began their own revolution! Barb Wire Dolls is certainly one of the best bands of the genre out there and they have it all, sound, look and an attitude that electrifies wherever they play. The live performances are truly outstanding with Isis claiming the stage and the space of the public to interact with the crowd, to mosh and sing loud to the sound of raw music, it´s like losing ear virginity in a 70´s rock show with sensuality and violence in the mixture. Dolls blend the good old sarcasm of their roots with the strong message “Do something with your life, start a revolution” and of course with punk, lots of punk with a grunge taste, ready to set everything on fire! You can and must acquire their debut album “Slit” that was released in November 2012. “Slit” described in some word is destructive, a pure massive H-bomb, a nuclear sound wave, probably the best punk album of the last two decades with a ravishing, catchy, refreshing and revolutionary face. Like in 1981 Punk´s Not Dead!
Barb Wire Dolls track listing of the debut album:
1. Revolution
2. Your Escape
3. Devil's Full Moon
4. World On Fire
5. Walking Dead
6. Destroyer Boy
7. Wild Child Diamonds
8. Shut Up Slut
9. L.A.
10. I Wanna Know
11. Teenage Crisis

One melee with the words, ideas and its paradoxes... albuns that are news, the reviews at "HeavyHardMetalmania.net", always with its watermark,  Pedro Ribeiro, with love for beer... sorry, music from an early age, he studied piano and singing from 7 to 14 years,  then, devoted himself to the study of the guitar for 5 years. "The wisdom is found in the extremes, all extreme Metal here!"
